Install
You need Node 18 or later. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Flicx Sheet app does not have to be installed.
npm install -g @flicx/cli
The command is flicx. To check it is there:
flicx --version
Sign in
flicx login
- Your browser opens sheets.flicx.space. Sign in there if you are not already.
- Press Authorize. The page shows an 8-digit code.
- Type the code into the terminal. It works once, for ten minutes.
The terminal gets a sign-in of its own, kept in a .flicx folder in your home folder. flicx logout removes it, and flicx status says who is signed in.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
flicx login | Sign in through sheets.flicx.space |
flicx logout | Sign out of this terminal |
flicx status | Say who is signed in |
flicx tools [word] | List what can be done, or only what mentions a word |
flicx help <tool> | Say what a tool does and what it takes |
flicx <tool> [--name value ...] | Run a tool |
flicx ask "<message>" | Ask Flicx Companion in plain words |
flicx --version | Print the version |
Tools
A tool is one thing Flicx Sheet can do. These are a few of them:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_workspace | List your projects and the sheets in each, with their ids |
read_sheet | Read a sheet: its columns and rows |
search_sheet | Find something in a sheet and say where it is |
update_cells | Set the values of cells in a sheet |
add_rows | Add rows to a sheet |
list_todos | List your to-dos |
add_todo | Add a to-do |
search_notes | Search your notes |
search_files | Find files in the Library |
To see them all, or only the ones about a word:
flicx tools flicx tools todo
To see what one tool takes:
flicx help add_todo
Run a tool
Write the tool's name, then each thing it takes as --name value. Put quotes around a value with spaces in it.
flicx list_workspace flicx read_sheet --sheet_id <id> --limit 20 flicx search_sheet --query "bengaluru" --sheet_id <id> flicx add_todo --task "Call the caterer" --due 2026-10-12 --tags home,urgent
Sheet ids come from list_workspace. A list is written with commas between its items, or as JSON. The result is printed as JSON.
Many tools that change something show the change and ask "Go ahead?" first.
Switches
--yes answers yes to "Go ahead?". --raw prints the result on one line, for another program to read.
flicx add_todo --task "Call the caterer" --yes --raw
Ask Flicx Companion
Say what you want in plain words. Each question uses one credit.
flicx ask "what is on my calendar tomorrow?"
What is not in the CLI
Things that only make sense on a screen: opening a sheet in front of you, a slideshow, and previewing or editing a PDF. Use the app or the website for those.
