Getting started
How to make your account and sign in, what you see the first time, and how to find your way around the app on a computer and on a phone.
Open Flicx Sheet
Flicx Sheet opens in any browser, such as Chrome, Edge or Safari. You do not have to install anything to begin.
- Open your browser and go to
sheets.flicx.space. - If you are new, press Get started. It takes you to the page for making an account.
- If you already have an account, press Sign in.
TipThere is also an app for Android phones and for Windows computers. The app opens straight on the sign-in page. See On your phone and computer.
Make your account
You need an account so that your sheets are kept safely under your name, and so that you find the same sheets on your phone and on your computer. There are two ways to make one.
With Google. This is the quickest way, because you do not have to think of a new password.
- Press Continue with Google.
- Choose your Google account from the list that Google shows.
- You are taken into Flicx Sheet. That is all.
With your email address. Use this if you do not want to use Google.
- On the sign-in page, press Create an account. Fill in Name, Email and Password. The password must have at least 6 characters. Then press Create account (1).
- If you see Confirm your email (2), open your email, find the message from Flicx Sheet and press the link inside it. Then come back, press Back to sign in and sign in.
Please noteBy creating an account you agree to the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy. Both are linked under the Create account button, so you can read them first.
Each time you come back, you sign in the same way you made the account: with Google, or with your email and password.
- Continue with Google: press this if you made your account with Google. Google asks which account to use.
- Email and Password: type them here if you made your account with an email address.
- Sign in: press this after typing your email and password.
- Forgot password?: press this if you cannot remember your password. The next part explains it.
- Create an account: press this if you do not have an account yet.
TipIf the sign-in page shows a message in a box above the button, read it. It tells you what went wrong, for example that the password does not match.
If you forget your password
You can choose a new password yourself. Flicx Sheet sends a link to your email address, and the link lets you type a new password.
- On the sign-in page, press Forgot password?. Type your email address and press Send reset link.
- You see Check your email. Open your email and press the link in the message. Open it in the same browser you used in step 1.
- You see Choose a new password. Type the new password in New password, type it once more in Type it again, and press Save password.
- You see Password changed. Press Open Flicx Sheet. You are already signed in.
Please noteIf the page says that the reset link has expired or was opened in a different browser, the link is too old or you opened it somewhere else. Press Send reset link once more and use the new email.
TipOn the Choose a new password page there is also Skip for now. It takes you into the app without changing the password.
What you see the first time
A new account is empty, so Flicx Sheet shows you where to begin.
- On a computer, the middle of the screen says Overview, with a box that says Create your first project and a green New project button.
- On the left there is a panel called Projects. It also has a New project button.
- On a phone, the screen is called Sheets and says No projects yet. A round green button with a plus sign at the bottom right makes a new project.
A project is a folder for your sheets. The next chapter, Projects and sheets, shows you how to make your first project and your first sheet.
The top bar on a computer
The bar across the top is always there. It is how you move from one part of the app to another.
- The tabs. Press one to go to that part of the app. They are explained in the table below.
- A small button with a form on it. It opens Quick Fill, which lets other people add rows to your sheet by filling a form. See Quick Fill forms.
- Share: let other people see or change this project. See Sharing.
- Export: save the open sheet as a file on your computer. See Bringing data in and taking it out.
- The Refresh button, two arrows going round. It loads the page you are on again.
- The globe opens Shared links: a list of every link you have given out.
- The bell opens Notifications.
- Your picture, or the first letters of your name. Press it for Settings, Connect and Sign out.
Buttons 2, 3 and 4 are shown only while a sheet is open in the Sheets tab. Share is shown only for projects that are your own.
| Tab | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Sheets | Your projects and sheets. This is where you start. See Projects and sheets. |
| Library | All your files: photos, PDFs, scans and documents. See the Library. |
| Teams | The groups of people you work with, and calls with them. See Teams and calls. |
| Schedules | Your calendar. See Calendar. |
| Utilities | A menu of more tools: notes, to-do, scanning and others. It is explained just below. |
The Utilities menu and your profile menu
Two things in the top bar open a small menu when you press them: the Utilities tab, and your picture.
- Press Utilities to see more tools. Press any line to open it.
- Press your picture at the top right. The menu shows your name and your email address, then Settings, Connect and Sign out. Connect is for using Flicx Sheet from other programs: see Connect.
| In Utilities | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Notes | Write and keep notes. See Notes. |
| To-do | Your task lists and reminders. See To-do. |
| Resume Assist | Build your resume and write a cover letter. See Resume Assist. |
| Secret Store | Passwords and keys, kept on this device only. It is shown only in the Windows and Android apps. See Secret Store. |
| Scan a document | Turn photos of pages into a clean PDF. See Scanning. |
| Scan with your phone | Take the pictures of the pages with the camera of your phone. |
| Scan from your Library | Use pictures that are already in your Library. |
| Sheets from a file | Find the tables in any file and make sheets from them. See Bringing data in and taking it out. |
TipWhen you open Notes or To-do, the Utilities tab changes its name to Notes or To-do. It is still the same tab. Press it again to see the menu.
Finding your way on a phone
A phone screen is small, so the tabs move to the bottom, where your thumb can reach them. The same parts of the app are all there.
- The top bar has the name Flicx Sheet and four small buttons: Refresh, the globe for Shared links, the bell for Notifications, and your picture for Settings, Connect and Sign out.
- The bottom bar has five places: Sheets, To-do, the round Camera button, Companion and More. Tap one to go there.
- Tap More for the rest: Library, Notes, Plan, Teams and Resume Assist. In the Android app, Secret Store is in this list too.
- Plan is the calendar. On a computer the same thing is called Schedules.
- When you go inside something, for example into a project, an arrow pointing left appears beside the heading. Tap it to go back one step.
- Tap Sheets in the bottom bar to come back to your list of sheets from anywhere.
More about phones is in On your phone and computer.
The Refresh button
Flicx Sheet shows changes as they happen. Now and then you may want to be sure you are looking at the newest version, for example after someone tells you they have just added a row. That is what Refresh is for.
Where to find itTop bar›Refresh
- It is the button with two arrows going round, beside the globe and the bell.
- It loads again whatever page you are on: the open sheet, the Library, your notes, your to-do lists, your calendar or your teams.
- The arrows spin while it is working. When they stop, the page is up to date.
- Nothing you have typed is lost.
The Notifications bell
The bell tells you when something happens that concerns you. A small green dot with a number on the bell shows how many new messages are waiting.
- Press the bell to open the list. The number on the bell goes away once you have opened it.
- When someone asks to join a team that you look after, press Accept or Decline right in the list.
- A to-do reminder shows the task and the time it was set for. Press it to open that task.
These are the things the bell tells you about:
- Someone wants to join your team, or has accepted or declined your own request to join theirs.
- You were removed from a team.
- A sheet or a project was shared with your team.
- A call was started in your team, or a guest is waiting to join it.
- A reminder you set on a to-do has come due.
- An answer to your request for more Companion credits.
When there is nothing to show, the list says Nothing yet.
Common questions
