On your phone and computer
The three ways to use Flicx Sheet: in a browser, from your home screen, and as an app for Android and Windows. What is different on a phone, and what only the apps can do.
Three ways to use Flicx Sheet
Flicx Sheet is the same on every device. You sign in with the same account, and you see the same sheets, to-dos, notes and files. What changes is how you open it.
- In a browser. Open
sheets.flicx.spacein Chrome, Edge, Safari or any other browser. There is nothing to install. This is the best way on a computer that is not your own. - From your home screen. Add the website to your phone's home screen or your computer's desktop. It opens like an app, with its own icon and without the browser's bars around it.
- As an app. Install the Flicx Sheet app on an Android phone or a Windows computer. The app can do a few things that a browser cannot, such as keeping your files in Windows File Explorer.
If you are just starting, use the browser. You can add the app later without losing anything.
Add Flicx Sheet to your home screen
Typing an address every time is a bother. Once Flicx Sheet is on your home screen, one tap opens it, and it fills the whole screen.
- The first time you use Flicx Sheet in a browser that can install it, a strip appears at the bottom of the screen: Install Flicx Sheet. Press Install and agree when your browser asks.
- On an iPhone or iPad the strip has a How button instead. Safari does the installing itself: tap Safari's share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- If the strip is not there, press your picture, then Settings, then This device. Press Install the app.
- Press the cross on the strip if you do not want to install. The strip does not come back. The offer stays in Settings if you change your mind.
- After installing, This device says App installed.
- If it says This browser cannot install the app, try Chrome or Edge, or use one of the apps below.
- Full screen in This device hides the browser's bars without installing anything. Switch it off the same way.
Where to get the Android and Windows apps
Both apps are on one page of the Flicx Sheet website. You do not have to sign in to open it.
Where to find itYour picture›Settings›This device›Android and Windows apps
You can also type sheets.flicx.space/download in your browser.
- Android: for phones and tablets with Android 7 or later. Press Download.
- Windows: for computers with Windows 10 (2004) or Windows 11. Press Get it from Microsoft Store.
Under each button there is a line, How to install. Press it to see the steps on the page itself. The same steps are given below.
Install the Android app
- On your phone, open
sheets.flicx.space/downloadin the browser. - Under Android, tap Download. Wait for the file to finish, then open it.
- If Android asks, allow your browser to install unknown apps. Android opens the right setting for you. Switch it on, go back and tap Install.
- If Play Protect warns about an unrecognised app, tap More details, then Install anyway.
- Open Flicx Sheet from your home screen and sign in.
Please noteThe Android app is not in the Play Store yet. That is why Android asks these questions. It asks them for every app that comes from outside the Play Store.
To update the app, download it again from the same page and install it over the old one. You stay signed in. Inside the app, Settings, About, Check for updates tells you when there is a new version. See Settings and your account.
Install the Windows app
- On your computer, open
sheets.flicx.space/download. - Under Windows, click Get it from Microsoft Store. The Store opens on Flicx Sheet.
- Click Get or Install.
- When it finishes, Flicx Sheet is in the Start menu. Open it and sign in.
Updates come through the Microsoft Store by themselves. To check by hand, open the Store, go to Downloads and click Get updates.
TipIf the Store does not open when you click the button, the How to install steps on the page have a link that opens the Store page in your browser.
What is different on a phone
A phone screen is small, so Flicx Sheet arranges itself differently there. Nothing is missing from your data. Some tools are placed elsewhere, and a few are only on a computer.
- The tabs are at the bottom: Sheets, To-do, Camera, Companion and More. See Getting started.
- You see one thing at a time. From your projects you go into a project, then into a sheet. The arrow at the top left takes you back one step. In the Android app, your phone's own Back button does the same.
- There is no pointing with a mouse, so every button is always visible. For more choices on a cell, a column heading or a row number, press and hold it.
- Settings is a list. Tap a line to go into that part, and the arrow at the top to come back.
A sheet on a phone has one slim bar at the top, so that most of the screen is left for your rows.
- The bar has a back arrow, the sheet's name with the number of rows, and three small buttons. The magnifying glass searches the sheet. The middle button switches between the grid and records. The last one opens View options.
- Records shows each row as a card, which is easier to read on a narrow screen. Tap a card to open that row. The round plus button adds a row.
- View options is for the grid. Use minus and plus under Size to fit more on the screen or to make it bigger, or pinch the grid with two fingers. Pin the first column keeps the first column in place while you move sideways. Refresh the sheet loads it again.
In the grid, tap a cell to choose it and tap it again to type in it. The app remembers for each sheet whether you like the grid or records, and how big you set it. More about working in a sheet is in Working in a sheet.
| Only on a computer | Where to read about it |
|---|---|

The Camera tab
On a phone, the round green button in the middle of the bottom bar is a camera. Use it to keep a photo, to read a bill or a handwritten list into a sheet, or to turn pages into a PDF.
- Choose what to do with the picture: Photo, Scan or Document. Tap the word, or slide your finger sideways across the picture.
- Tap the large round button to take the picture.
- The small square on the left opens All photos: every photo you have taken here.
- The small round button on the right lets you pick a picture that is already on your phone.
| Choice | What happens to the picture |
|---|---|
| Photo | It is saved to your Library, under Live captures. You can give it a title and a note. |
| Scan | Flicx Companion reads it. A bill, a list, a table or handwriting becomes rows in a sheet. This uses 1 Companion credit. |
| Document | Pages, ID cards and receipts are cropped and cleaned up, and saved as a PDF in your Library. |
The first time, your phone asks whether Flicx Sheet may use the camera. Allow it. If the camera's picture cannot be shown inside the app, the large button opens your phone's own camera instead.
Every step of scanning is in Scanning.
TipSitting at a computer with a paper bill in your hand? Choose Utilities, then Scan with your phone. A square code appears. Point your phone's camera at it, take the pictures on the phone, and they appear on the computer.
What only the apps can do
The browser does almost everything. These few things need the app, because a website is not allowed to do them.
| Extra | Which app | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Reminders as notifications | Android and Windows | A to-do reminder appears as a notification of your phone or of Windows. On Android it comes on time even when the app is closed. See To-do. |
| Secret Store | Android and Windows | Passwords and keys, kept on this device only. See Secret Store. |
| Files from other apps | Android and Windows | Send a file to Flicx Sheet from another app, or open a file with it. It is explained below. |
| Shared links open in the app | Android and Windows | A Flicx Sheet link that someone sends you opens inside the app. It is explained below. |
| App lock | Android | Ask for your fingerprint when the app opens. It is in Settings. |
| Camera sync | Android | Every new photo your phone takes is copied to the Camera roll folder of your Library. It is in Settings. |
| File Explorer | Windows | Your Library as a folder in Windows File Explorer. It is explained below. |
App lock, Camera sync and File Explorer are switched on in Settings. See Settings and your account.
Your Library in Windows File Explorer
If you work on a Windows computer, you can have your Flicx Library as an ordinary folder in File Explorer, next to Desktop and Documents. You open, save and drag files there as you do with any folder, and the same change happens in your Library.
Where to find itWindows app›Your picture›Settings›File Explorer
- In the Windows app, open Settings and choose File Explorer. Press the card Add Flicx Library to this PC.
- A box tells you what will happen. Read it and press Allow and add.
- File Explorer opens with Flicx Library in its left pane. Your folders and files are inside.
This is what you agree to when you press Allow and add:
- Flicx Library is added to File Explorer's left pane, as a folder in your Windows user folder.
- All your files are shown straight away. Each one is downloaded only when you open it.
- Anything you add, change, rename or delete there is added, changed, renamed or deleted in your Library too.
- Flicx Sheet keeps running quietly beside the clock and starts when you sign in to Windows, so that files can open.
- This PC gets a password of its own for this, which you can remove at any time.
After that, the same place in Settings shows Flicx Library is on this PC and whether it is up to date.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open in File Explorer | Opens the folder. |
| Sync now | Checks for changes straight away, instead of waiting. |
| Remove… | Takes Flicx Library out of File Explorer. Press Remove from this PC to confirm, or Keep to leave it. Nothing is deleted from your Library. |
| Sign this PC in again | Shown if this PC's password was removed. Press it to connect again. |
Please noteDeleting a file in the Flicx Library folder deletes it from your Library as well. Treat the folder as the Library itself, not as a copy.
This is only in the Windows app. More about the Library is in the Library.
Files and links that come from outside
Sending a file to Flicx Sheet. On an Android phone, when you press Share on a photo or a file in another app, Flicx Sheet is one of the choices. On Windows, you can right-click a file and choose to open it with Flicx Sheet. The app then asks what you want to do with the file. Nothing is saved until you choose.
- Tap the file to look at it first.
- Choose what to do with it. The choices depend on the kind of file.
- Press Add to Library to keep the file, then choose a folder. Press Discard to let it go.
| Choice | For | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Add to Library | Any file | Keeps the file in a folder of your Library. |
| Ask Companion | Files Companion can read | Opens Flicx Companion with the file attached, ready for your question. |
| Make sheets | Excel, CSV, PDF and Word files | Finds the tables in the file and makes sheets from them. |
| Scan as document | Pictures | Crops and cleans the picture and saves it as a PDF in your Library. |
| Read it | Pictures | Reads a bill, a table or handwriting into a sheet. This uses 1 Companion credit. |
Opening a shared link. People share Flicx Sheet things as links: a file, a sheet, a to-do list, a Quick Fill form or a notes workbook. When you have the app, such a link opens inside the app instead of the browser. You do not have to sign in to see it.
- A bar at the top says what it is, for example Shared sheet or Shared file.
- Open in browser shows the same thing in your browser instead.
- Close takes you back to where you were in the app.
- On a computer, the page of a shared link has an Open in app button that opens it in the Windows app.
Making such links is explained in Sharing.
Common questions
Do I need the app? No. Everything important works in a browser. The app adds the extras in the table above.
Is there an app for iPhone? There is no iPhone app on the download page. On an iPhone, open Flicx Sheet in Safari and add it to your home screen.
Will I see the same sheets on my phone and my computer? Yes, if you sign in with the same account on both.
Something I changed on my computer is not showing on my phone. Tap the Refresh button in the top bar. If a sheet is open and it was changed elsewhere, a strip says This sheet was changed on another device. Press Sync on it.
Android warned me that the app is unrecognised. That warning is shown for every app that does not come from the Play Store. Make sure you downloaded it from sheets.flicx.space/download.
Can I bring a Zoho sheet in from the Android app? Not from the Android app. Open sheets.flicx.space in your phone's browser, or use a computer. See Bringing data in and taking it out.
Where is Export on my phone? Export is in the top bar on a computer only.
